My dashcam picked the worst time to fail

I was waiting at a red light on my way home from work, it’s raining quite a bit, has been all day. A red 2000s Mustang, just like the one above, turned right a bit too enthusiastically, got almost entirely sideways, but actually caught it. They were seriously close to jumping the curb. The icing on the cake was the N on the back (new drivers in BC need to have an N magnet displayed for 2 years)

I was quite disappointed to see that my dashcam was off when I tried to save the clip. The price you pay for getting a cheap one I guess.

I usually unplug mine when I park at the airport and hide the plug someplace. Just trying to prevent my camera from getting stolen, the camera is well hidden if you aren’t looking for it but the plug in the cig lighter is going to draw attention. Anyways, I hate when I forget to plug it in and see something cool happen. It happens way too often.

I hid my cord through the glovebox and under the console, and then it’s plugged into the cig lighter inside the console, so nice and hidden. It should turn on every time with the car, but this is the third or fourth time that it just hasn’t turned on. Usually when something happens, of course

That seems like a camera problem. As long as mine is plugged in properly it always turns on. You use one with a battery or capacitor? I’ve found the capacitor ones to be superb, very glad with that choice. Batteries tend to just cook.

It’s a capacitor, but it is a little screwy. It’s not bothering me enough to try returning it, but some day I’ll get a nicer one that’s more than like $100
